FEATURE CO-CREATOR

saritah

Motivated by her belief that music is a tool through which positive change can be inspired, saritah’s songs combine lyrics that are at once global and personal, political and spiritual, with music that incorporates many influences from around the globe. From soul through folk to roots and world beats, saritah has clearly crafted her own unique style, which has a sincere, raw energy, and whether solo or with a band, is performed with such passion as to captivate the listener, young or old.

The THESE DAYS/YOU'RE THE ONE EP, released in September 2005, is a fine example of the potent combination of melody, message and groove that saritah is becoming well known for. Her debut full-length album ‘gratitude’, released in May 2004 and distributed nationally through MGM distribution, contains 11 tracks and was recorded over two years in five studios between Fremantle [WA] and London. The album reveals an incredible song-writing talent delivered with world-class production.

saritah is constantly touring australia and the globe with her potent blend of melody, message and groove. so far her travels have taken her
to the stage at some of australia's most renowned festivals, as well as tours in canada, france, spain, germany, holland, new zealand/aotearoa and the uk.

South-Korean born and WA-based, saritah has also spent time living in Spain, France and the UK. Her music is a fresh burst of strong spirit and groove that is bound to uplift and inspire.

Connected to saritah's strong spirit is her work ethic... a trait, among others, she feels she has inherited.

"I guess my mother's oriental ethics of hard work and self-discipline have influenced me whether I realise it or not," she says light-heartedly, "My mother's mother is Buddhist; she practises daily. Whilst I don't assign myself to any religion, I do embrace philosophies of Buddhism and I guess this comes through in the lyrics I write. For example, to be aware of suffering yet to strive to find happiness in every moment, to do no harm to others and believing that everything is as it should be. To aim to calm the chatter of the mind and find peace in a crazy yet beautiful world. There is so much devastation in this world, it can be overwhelming. And once you start to care, you become aware of the contradictions in your own life."

"I'm up for collaboration on many levels, whether it be guest vocals for another act, a remix of one of my tunes. You can only learn from working with other people."

An exciting addition to The Open Project lineup, we look forward to saritah's input with anticipation! Stay tuned to this page, and join us to see what form it will take...
